Trinity Guild lose a nail biter vs Rugby Welsh

A tight game of rugby took place at Rowley Road as the Leagues top 2 clashed.
A game started with a minute silence to remember Savenaca Koroibulileka a Fijian Player who died representing Oakham RFC on Saturday 24th September whilst on the field.
Rugby Welsh came to Rowley Road with the desire to overturn the defeat a few months ago that prevented them from gaining promotion to Midlands 4 West (South) .
Welsh Started with a lot of fire for the first 10 - 15 minutes allowing them to build up a 13-0 lead very quickly, with 2 unconverted tries and a penalty. Guild were on the back foot early and needed to turn there fortunes around quick. After a period of calm rugby Guild began to relax and play there game, which resulted in Inside Centre Dave Jones scoring his 1st league try of the season and Dave added the extra 2 points with a conversion making the score Rugby Welsh 13-7 Trinity Guild. Unfortunately though Dave injured his knee during the Conversion and had to be substituted allowing Sam Holt to come on and make his Guild debut, signed from Barkers last week and straight into his league debut. Constant Guild pressure allowed Second Row Alex Clarke to find a gap and cross the whitewash for his 1st try of the season. Converted this time by 1st XV captain Macauley Jones, giving Guild a 14-13 lead at half time.
A half time Substitution saw Paul Rimmer replace Adam Proctor in the front row.
The second half was a tight scrappy affair not helped by a number of errors, killing Guilds momentum within the game. A mixture of handling errors and poor decisions made it difficult for Guild to capitalise on their dominance and add more points to the score board. Guild spent 10 minutes down to 14 men when Nathan Fairchild was binned for obstruction of a quick penalty, but the defence held out strong. The fresh legs of Mick Dodd, Craig Clarke and Chris Hughes during the second half allowed Guild to stay on top but unfortunately no more points could be scored. With minutes to go, Rugby Welsh were able to counter and score a try to break Guild hearts, making the Score Rugby Welsh 20 - 14 Trinity Guild. Guild constantly pressed on Welsh's line. With a scrum on halfway with 90 seconds to play Guild kicked ball down field which was carried dead by Welsh's winger giving Guild a 5 metre scrum with a minute to play and one last chance, but unfortunately the referee blew for full time without any progress, breaking Guilds hearts.
